HUNGER
HUNGER

In politics, humanitarian aid, and social science, hunger is a condition in which a person, for a sustained period, is unable to eat sufficient food to meet basic nutritional needs. Throughout history, portions of the world's population have often experienced sustained periods of hunger.
- According to the Center on Hunger and Poverty:
- Hunger is defined as the uneasy or painful sensation caused by a recurrent or involuntary lack of food and is a potential, although not necessary consequence of food insecurity.
- Over time, hunger may result in malnutrition.
- Feeling hungry after eating could be due to leptin resistance.
- Leptin, a hormone produced by body fat, controls whether or not you feel full after eating. ... This is because the body secretes leptin when you've had enough to eat and tells your brain you're full.
- Climate and weather.
- Natural disasters such as floods, tropical storms and long periods of drought are on the increase -- with calamitous consequences for thehungry poor in developing countries.
